DROPLETS ~ Tabla Dumbeck Play Along Backing Track 90 bpm - 100bpm -
Great for - 4/4 & 2/4 Rhythms
by William R. Crocker
I have been using this backing track play along, for short rhythm time signatures, such as Malfuf, Ayub and Karachi. It is also useful for practicing Turkish split hand drills and technique. Works great for belly dance warm ups and drills as well . Enjoy William

Banjo Down Ode to Afrika

William R. Crocker
Banjo Down ~ Ode to Afrika
Influences for this piece Ali Farka Toure, Ry Cooder and Bela Fleck
Inspired by Bela Flecks Documentary “ Throw down your Heart “
Searching for the roots of the American Banjo, which is said to come from Africa and carried over seas by the early African slaves when they were sold by their own country men.

African music is diverse from region to region, its soulful vocals , extraordinary percussion Djemba’s, Talking Drums, Djun Dun’s , Marimba’s & Balafon (Xylophones ), Kalimbas ( finger piano), stringed Kora, Shekere (Gourd shakers with beads ), Udu ( water drum) to name a few .
The music is full of life and passionate, moving and inspiring, lively and energetic. Modern artist’s have a unique guitar finger style coupled with their soulful voices such as Ali Farka Toure .

Enchanted Darkness

William R. Crocker

Enchanted Darkness ,( audio track ) inspired from Sephardic or Andalusian music and Cantigas of Saint Maria of the 12th and 13th century .
During the time of the Crusades of the Knights Templar , the Middle East would forever influence and change European music , art , culture and architecture . It is one of the most fascinating periods in European history , music an art .
Modal music uses little if any chord changes with a continuous vamp or drone in one key or note . For this piece I used an A natural minor mode in a 3/4 timing. You can also hear some background vocals and midi synths . The below tone drum that can be heard is called a Tar in Egypt or Frame drum in the west.
Sephardic and Middle Eastern music has also greatly influenced the ever famous Flamenco music , hence the 1 and 1/2 step in the scale which is also used in the western minor harmonic scale.
